Miho Museum of Art

1997: Shiga, Japan

Tim Culbert

for I.M. Pei Architect

The Miho is a 100,000 sq. foot museum dedicated to ancient art, built on a ridge in a nature preserve outside Kyoto. Tim Culbert, the project architect for I.M. Pei for the museum, encouraged the client to expand the scope of work to encompass exhibition design. Working independently, Celia Imrey joined the team and together they designed the galleries. Other work included installation design, casework design, graphics, and art installation supervision. Custom display niches, plinths, and rooms were created to highlight featured works.
