National Museum of the American Indian
2004
-2006
New York, New York
This exhibition filled three galleries of the historic Customs Building
at Bowling Green. Imrey Culbert, with museum curators and artists, defined
seven principals to frame the exhibit. Over 200 artifacts of 19th
and 20th C. Native American art in a wide range of media were chosen
from the Diker Collection. The dynamic exhibit flow, casework design,
and lighting concept work to emphasize the objects as art works rather
than ethnographic objects. The exhibit features doubled sided cases,
"tuning fork" pedestals, and "ribbon" cases to define
visitor flow.
