Smithsonian American Art Museum
Opened 2006
Washington, DC
The new home of
the American Art Museum, is in the Patent Office
Building in Washington D.C., and features an enclosed glass courtyard by
Sir Norman Foster. Designing the permanent galleries for Modern and Contemporary
Art, Imrey Culbert was challenged to dovetail restoration of the historic
Lincoln Galleries with a flexible infrastructure for the display of painting,
sculpture and large-scale multimedia works. The firm was responsible
for wall systems, visitor furniture, gallery lighting, finishes, and art
installation layouts. |
