Kuwait National Museum
2004-2007
Kuwait City, Kuwait
Built in the 1960s, the
Kuwait National Museum sustained extensive damage during the 1991 golf
war, necessitating complete rehabilitation of the four-building complex.
Working within the existing building parameters, Imrey Culbert
established a new module with various scales of complexity to re-clad
4500 m² of exterior façades with
French limestone, and pixilated fritted glazing. Working with
lighting experts Arup, we developed a daylight mitigation strategy of
multi layer glazing, and perforated wood screening.
